Trade Unionism Evolution And Growth





Trade Unionism Civilization may be expressed today in the term of Trade Unionism. Trade Unionism is the spirit and best medicine for the workers.

The trade union act 1926 provide for the registration of trade unions.

Any seven or more members of a Trade union main by subscribing their names to the rules of the trade union and otherwise complying with the provisions of the act with respect to registration apply for registration aap the trade union under the trade union act.

The act gives protection to registered trade unions in a certain case against civil or Criminal actions.

Verification of membership of centre trade unions organisations for the purpose of giving representations on Tripathi  consulative bodies development councils boards etc at National and international levels include in International Labour Organisation is done by the office of the chief Labour Commissioner Central.

The last general membership verification as on 31 December 1968 of unions affiliated to four Centre trade unions organisations viz, Indian national trade union Congress INTUC

Hind Mazdoor Sabha HMS and

United Trade union Congress UTUC was undertaken during 1969.


With the emergence of new trade unions organisation claiming all India character and membership strains it was decided to undertake verification of membership as on 31 December 1977 and 31 December 1979 of unions organisations rigid.

2) all India trade union Congress ATUC

3) Hind Mazdoor Sabha HMS

4) United trade union Congress UTUC

5) centre of Indian trade unions CITU

6) Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh BMS

7) United Trade union Congress UTUC (LS)

8) National front of Indian trade unions NFITU

9) Trade union coordination centre TUCC and

10) National labour organisations NLO


However verification could not be undertaken in the absence of consensus amongst the centre organisations of worker.

On account of strong differences in their views the government to hold a processor.

History And Trade Union Examples




The history of trade union movement can be traced back to 1890. When the Bombay mill hands Association was formed.
