 4. Jamanalal Bajaj (1889-1942)


A healthy man settled in Wardha who renounced his wealth at any early age and become Gandhi's disciple - earned the title of Rai Bahadur which he surrendered in protest against British atrocities imprisoned in freedom struggle - worked for women's education , Harijan uplift and promotion of basic education, treasurer of the Congress from 1920 till his date -Gave sewagram to Gandhi in 1936.



5. Surendranath Banerjee (1848-1925)


He was once a member of the Indian Civil Service . Later he became the pioneer of the Nationalist agitations in India . In 1876 he founded the Indian Association with the object of making it the centre of Indian National Movement. In 1883 he invented the first Indian National Conference.

6. Sardar Bhagat Singh (1907-1931)


Punjabi Revolutionary youth work in collaboration with other revolutionaries like Sukhdev Chandrashekhar Azad jitendranath Nath Das - decided to kill Scott who was responsible for Lala Lajpat Rai death and planned for it with Rajguru and CS Azad he and BK Dutta threw a bomb in the central legislative assembly and offered themselves for arrest shouting inqlaab jindabad long live revolution hanged in 1931 - a good good journalist who did not believe in anarchy but justified the use of force for legitimate cause.

8. Subhas Chandra Bose (1897-1945)


Most Famous Indian In The World


Born at Cuttack in 1897 he was selected for the Indian Civil Service but resigned in 1920  A prominent left wing leader of the Congress he was elected the president of the Congress in 1938 and 1939 but had to resign from the post. Later he founded the forward bloc and went to Germany and Japan to organise Armed Liberation of India. In 1941 he founded the Indian National Army which finally collapsed in 1945. Netaji Bose gave the well known slogans "Jai Hind and Dilli chalo."



9. Chandra Shekhar Azad (1908-1931)


A leading Revolutionary of U. P. during the second phase of revolutionary terrorism - flogged during the 1920 non cooperation movement involved in Kakori Delhi and Lahore conspiracies,  attempt to blow up viceroy's train in 1931 wanted to organise a major popular uprising - when about to be arrested in Allahabad in 1931 he killed himself after a heroic struggle.



10. Bankim Chandra Chaterjee (1838-1894)


An eminent Bengali novelist and journalist his Novel Durgesh Nandini Anand Math Rashi Simha created a world of high tragedy in Bengali literature , his patriotic poems Vande Mataram thinker and petroit his books raised revolutions any fervour in the coming generations - enunciated the concept of Indian nationalism in his historical novels- a social philosopher,  prophet of Indian nationalism and builder of modern India literature- his involvement in the social and political problems of his day.

11. Swami Dayanand Saraswathi (1825-1883)


Born in Gujarat mainly work in Lahore - Sanskrit scholar who established Arya Samaj in Bombay in 1875 - his Motto "Go back to Vedas" believed in the infallibility of the Vedas and discarded later addition to Hinduism like polytheism incarenation, Idol worship, fasts, feasts and pilgrimage - opposed many social evils and worked for women's education and upliftment of the depressed classes- initiated the "Shuddhi " moment for reconversion to Hinduism - famous book "Satyarath Prakash" his influence among the masses in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Punjab.



12. Chittaranjan Das (1870-1925)


Desh Bandhu CR Das was an eminent lawyer of Bengal who gave up his lucrative practice to fight for India freedom . He was the founder of the Swaraj Party in 1923 and the political Guru of Subhash Chandra Bose



13. Maharshi Karve (1858-1962)


Dhonde kash karave ward and educationalist and social reformer of Maharashtra - particularly promoted female education founded Shrimati nathibai Damodar Thakre Women's University at Bombay - stood for the abolition of the caste system and promotion of widow remarriage - no interest in politics- awarded Bharat Ratna in 1958.


14. Sarojini Naidu (1879-1949)


Born in Hyderabad in 1879 she begin to write poem at the early age of 13 . Her collection of poems become a best seller in England and she came to be known as the the nightingale of India. she was an active Congress worker and freedom fighter and was appointed the governor of United princess after independence. She died in 1949 . She was the president of Congress in 1925 a good orator.

15. Vallabhbhai Patel (1875-1950)

A leading barrister of Gujarat who accepted Gandhi's leadership from the beginning came close to Gandhi during the the Kheda Satyagraha in 1918 for exception of land revenue popularity in Bardoli Satyagraha in 1928 president over the congress session in 1931 became Deputy prime minister of free India remembered for his efforts to integrate princely states into India known as sardar and the Iron Man of India and efficient administrator who recognised the civil service in India his contribution to the building of the Congress Organisation was one of the chief artist of free India.
